This post is a qualifier for the update on my progress today:
I have been bothered by some spasms, but there are some positive things about them. Spasms increase the blood flow to my legs, which means I'm at less risk for a blood clot. It also can help me to keep some muscle tone in my legs, which is also very good. However, sometimes they jerk my body around, which can make my back and legs sore, and it can also keep me up at night sometimes.
This last weekend, I also made another jump in that I was cleared to switch from the TLSO brace I was wearing to a less restrictive Jewett brace, which I will have to wear for another 10 days, then they will take x-rays, and I'll probably be able to stop wearing any brace. This is nice, but right now all of my stomach and back and side muscles are killing me because they haven't been used in 10 weeks, and now they're getting a rude awakening.
If you read this tonight or tomorrow, pray for me tomorrow as I go for my least favorite procedure, but one that is very necessary. I'm on-call tomorrow (that means they'll do it whenever there's time) to have my IVC Greenfield filter removed - the device thats supposed to catch any blood clots that my legs might throw. Pray that the procedure would go smoothly and my recovery would be swift - and mostly that my anxiety over the whole thing wouldn't be too great. Honestly, when they're wheeling me into interventional radiology, I either have to constantly remind myself to find peace in God, or else I freak out.
Alright. Enough of this report.
A continuing thanks to all who have supported me through prayers, financial help, and visits (or all of the above). By the way, if you visit me, a fun time to come is Friday at 11:00am, because thats game-day in wheelchair class, and friends and family are welcome to get in on surprisingly fun and dangerous games. Thanks especially to the Andersen clan for getting the whole pray for Daryl bracelets going on - although I must admit it makes me blush to think about many people wearing something with my name on it, I am glad that it has provided opportunities to tell of God's goodness and faithfulness.
James 2:5 - Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
