5/19/2005: Daryl's ear surgery is next week, and you can read a new update from him here.
5/7/2005: Daryl had a successful trip. His ear surgery has been rescheduled to later this month, and you can read his latest message here.
4/23/2005: Good news for you Grand Rapidians: Daryl & Carrie will be venturing to GR for a few days after the funeral next week so if you're lucky you might be able to see them during their visit.
4/21/2005: Due to the passing of our dear Grampa Johnson (mom's dad), Daryl is rescheduling his ear surgery to attend the funeral in CT next week. Please pray for my mom (no vacation time left at work), grandmother, sister (about to graduate from nursing school), and rest of the family as this is a very difficult and complicated time. The delay may also mean holding off until the fall semester to go back to school, since the ear surgery requires a lengthy recovery.
4/19/2005: Happy birthday Daryl! The big 2-0.
4/18/2005: Daryl posted a new message today which you can read here. As you will see, his ear surgery is scheduled for the 26th.
4/16/2005: OK so it's been a month since Daryl came home and I've had several requests for an update. He hasn't posted any messages lately, partly due to not wanting to go downstairs to access the internet and partly because he's been busy working on other stuff. However, I can assure you he's doing pretty well and adjusting to life in a wheelchair. He was able to get a new car thanks in part to everyone's generosity, which is a huge blessing. It was fitted with hand controls and now he's cruisin' again. He's been working out in the LHS weightroom lately and doing his taxes, etc. He drove down to Denver to see an ear doctor right after the blizzard, and he will be having surgery on his ear next week so let's pray that he recovers some more hearing as a result. He's planning on going back to Calvin probably this summer or maybe in the fall just depending on recovery from surgery, etc. As you can imagine, there are many challenges and obstacles in daily living. Little things we take for granted can take him much longer to accomplish, so keep praying for encouragement, strength and healing.
