Finding happiness in the small things…

I’m really only unhappy when I compare my life to the lives of others and think about what could have been or what I wish could be. When I focus on doing the tasks at hand and loving the people around me well I find myself as happy as a person could be.

    Unless I have diarrhea.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, and Hope for Peace, Prosperity, and the End of Poverty in 2013.

      Oh, Daryl …

Good, good advice. As Biblical as can be. (except for the diarrhea part. 😉

Thank you for posting this, Daryl! Undoubtedly what I needed to hear. I’m finding that not only loving others well, but myself. Taking ownership of the gifts, talents and interests entrusted to me and learning to live and love through them has brought great joy to my own life. I find that I delight in serving others while operating within my strengths–those bonds of comparison are loosened and I can live freely, authentically and wholeheartedly.

I had just been thinking about these things, especially in reference to the online world. It’s so easy to be on facebook or another online network and wish for a different life. As a single guy in my mid-late-20s especially, but I need to remember that jealousy and fantasy aren’t going to build a better life for me. Doing what the Lord has for me and trusting him will – and trusting that this will satisfy.
