What should our band name be?
The current leader is The Pondmonsters (if you’re not from Loveland/don’t read the Reporter-Herald, you probably won’t get this, but we have had some pondmonster episodes in Loveland this summer) but we’re not sure that really sounds like the type of music we’re making. Niels Anderson has offered us the name Big Thumb, but I’m not sure that has the desired effect either. Any suggestions?

Haven’t heard you play, so I can’t get a feel for a name that would fit your musical style… got any mp3’s?

Umm, we play folky alternative music. Two guitars, a violin, sometimes a mandolin, sometimes some percussion. We’ll probably add some bass soon. One or two songs sound more like Jack Johnson, sometimes a few John Mayor-ish chords mixed in; a bit country occasionally; maybe a little Ryan Adams and/or Caedmon’s Call country rock style in there; a bit of a classical influence - especially because Nick has played a lot classical and flamenco guitar in the past.

Well i think that the fact that Niels gave you input and you are not straight up accepting it…is a travisty. But that being said, I like the Jon Brummet Experience. it says it all.

I know of a band called Big Toe, based off of Exodus 29:20.. maybe that’s where Big Thumb was coming from? (referring to the annointing of the priests on the right ear, right thumb, and right big toe) …I don’t have a name suggestion for you, but based on the type of music you play, the name “pondmonster” doesn’t fit… sounds like it would be one of those screamer-type bands.
Just some random input from someone you don’t know.
Good luck finding your name. (By the way, my husband heard you play and said your band was pretty good… he is one of the contestants on TNIM… Jason Marshall)
