Three trips around the sun ago…
…this website was born to keep friends and family updated on my condition as I fought for life in the hospital. I’m not sure how I feel about it all today. My mom mentioned it and was talking about a doctor who was one of my doctors in the ICU who she recently saw on the news for something or other - and I told her I didn’t want to talk about it. A family friend brought it up but I quickly and quietly changed the topic. It’s not that I don’t want to think about it, it’s just that I want to think about it and talk about it on my terms and give it the space that it deserves (which isn’t going to be here and now on this blog).
It’s hard to say whether these three years have gone by quickly or not because there have been just so many things that have happened in that period of time. I’ve gone back to Calvin and finished school; started at Denver Seminary and made it to my third semester; spent a couple summers months grading tests; handcycled a couple thousand miles; watched my little brother finish his high school career and start college in Hawaii (go Warriors!); had a niece born; been a groomsman and musician in my sister’s wedding (and a best friend’s); been to a dozen other weddings; started and ended romantic relationships (all short lived); played music in and out of church and nearly finished a recording project (soon, I promise you!); driven 45000+ miles (see previous entry); and made a boatload of amazing friends and met countless more extraordinary people.
Life is good, and I’m glad to be living it.

You are an encouragement to all of us, Daryl. God uses you daily in ways you may never know!

Thanks Dr. Blomberg, 33, and Clint. I need encouragement, too, every once in a while (or more often than that…).
