    10th January 2007

    The first post of 2007.

It has a been some time since I wrote anything significant for this website, which is kind of funny because I have been doing a lot of nothing for the last couple of weeks. Perhaps this says something about me, and I’m not sure what it says, but I when I have stuff to do – when I’m busy – I seem to find more time to do stuff like blog. Maybe it is because I don’t spend as much time doing nothing; or because I don’t sleep in late and then read the whole newspaper, RH line comments included (the Loveland Reporter-Herald has a daily feature in which readers can call in and leave comments on articles or issues and the paper prints a selection of the comments – which can be quite entertaining at times).

But here I am, trying to write something for all you all out there who still occasionally check this site out; hoping it might at least be either as humorous as the RH line or in some small wayit might be meaningful, either to you or to me for having written it. It’s not snowing anymore, but there is still a load of snow on the ground outside and banks of snow several feet high lining roads. I think that last year I started out by writing some Resolutions of some sort. I think I’ve done decently well on them at times – and decently poorly at other times.

But I don’t really think that I have any resolutions for this year (maybe I should keep working on the ones from last year). Maybe I’ll work on it and get back to you.

In the meantime, my sister is getting married this week, which is exciting. We have family from the east coast already out here staying with us, and more on the way. It should be a good time, and more than that, weddings are an important thing – it is good to be a witness when people publicly commit and join their lives together.

Oh yeah, I’m going to put a link to a site here. My brother Eric linked to this site today, also, but it is the site of an artist named Akiane. She hails from Missouri and a mere 12 years of age, but her paintings are unbelievable (she also writes poetry that has literary critics asking how such a young girl could write with such a mature voice). She has been painting since she was a little girl, when she says she started having visions and dreams from God – even though at the time, her parents were Atheists. Through her, her family has been changed, and she is committed to using her gifts to help people around the world. Her site is She has a book that tells both her life story as well as shows most of her paintings a good amount of her poetry. It’s pretty cool, so check it out.
