Woke up this morning before my alarm
Didn’t feel like going to work so I started playing guitar
The song I was playing started dancing on the strings
Then I heard the birds and squirrels outside begin to sing
Oh - it’s a beautiful morning
I know it’s gonna be a good day
With lots of sunshine and blue skies
And a chance of afternoon rain
But in the evening the clouds break
And trickling streams of light
Paint the perfect sunset
On the canvas of the sky
So I got dressed and bust out through the door
I looked around the world and my heart told me there was more
It was hard to see when I’d been so down for so long
Now I hear this tune and I have to sing along
Oh - it’s a beautiful morning
I know it’s gonna be a good day
With lots of sunshine and blue skies
And a chance of afternoon rain
But in the evening the clouds break
And trickling streams of light
Paint the perfect sunset
On the canvas of the sky
And maybe I’ll meet my true love
Walking down the street
I’ll know her when I see her
Recognize her from my dreams
And maybe I’ll see beauty
That takes my breath away
And maybe I’ll find true peace
And finally find my place
And maybe I’ll quit running
And turn and see you there
Experience redemption
And joy beyond compare
And I can’t help but think that today could be
The best day of my life
I know anything could happen
I wouldn’t be surprised
It’s a beautiful morning
I know it’s gonna be a good day
With lots of sunshine and blue skies
And a chance of afternoon rain
But in the evening the clouds break
And trickling streams of light
Paint the perfect sunset
On the canvas of the sky
These are the lyrics to a song I wrote a couple weeks ago, but I really did wake up an hour before my alarm this morning, and instead of trying to go back to sleep I had the song stuck in my head so I got up and went for a ride. Now, in about two minutes, I’m going to go to church - but first I wanted to share those words with the world and pose a question: Nick and I have been playing a lot lately, making good songs and good arrangements… Does anyone out there have suggestions for where we could/should record here in Colorado? Also, are there any sweet musicians out there who want to play with us (especially percussionists/string players of various sorts)?
